Known for her high technical standards, Laura has been working for over 25 years with both hair and make-up starting in the West End on shows such as Oliver, Phantom of the Opera and Mary Poppins and the Royal Opera House. Ten years ago Laura moved into television and feature films to specialise in period hair styling. Credits include Strictly Come Dancing, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Anna Karenina, X Men First Class, Captain America, Star Wars, Assassins Creed, and more recently Beauty and the Beast and Lost in London as crowd hair supervisor.
Oscar and Emmy winning graduate of Delamar, Trefor Proud trained with us in 1988 – since then, he has become one of the leading make-up artists in the industry. Trefor has worked on numerous blockbusters including Gladiator, Star Wars, GoldenEye, Closer, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and First Knight. In 2000 Trefor won an Oscar for Best Make-up and Hair on ‘Topsy-Turvy’, followed by an Emmy Award in 2008 for Best Special Make-up Effects Artist and Designer for his work on the HBO mini-series John Adams. He won a second Emmy Award in 2009 as make-up designer on The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler. A really unique man and huge inspiration to many, Trefor takes every opportunity to come back and teach our lucky students.
Mother hen and our lead fashion tutor, commanding over 19 years of experience, Joanne has worked on fashion icons such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, alongside some of the top make-up artists in the world, including Mary Greenwell and Lisa Eldridge. Joanne has worked with Premier Make-up & Hair agency assisting their top artists, before securing large advertising jobs, editorial cover work and music videos. In addition to this Joanne worked on top TV shows including Strictly Come Dancing, Saturday Night Takeaway and The Voice. Joanne continues to absolutely love her job.
Highly experienced, full of energy and with one of the most impressive lists of credits in the industry, Deb trained and worked at the BBC before embarking on her freelance career. Having worked as personal make-up artist to Robert De Niro on Stardust, and Lawrence Fishburne on The Matrix, Deb has worked on many other films including the Star Wars films, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wolfman, Titanic, and Exodus, to name a few.
BAFTA winning, always humble and never one to boast about her impressive career as a designer, our inspiring tutor Catherine loves to mentor and guide our students to achieve their full potential. Her credits include Make-up and Hair Designer on Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Fourth Angel, Murder City, This Is England (feature film and TV series), Dirty War, Trial and Retribution, Guerilla and Fortitude. Catherine shows great support for our students and her team always includes Delamar graduates.
Our Emmy nominated prosthetics and special effects tutor Brian is a huge hit with the students. His approachable and gentle nature is especially helpful on the Advanced Prosthetics course, where our students are pushed beyond their creative and practical limits. As a graduate of Delamar Academy himself and industry professional of almost 20 years, Brian has worked on The Hunger Games, Game Of Thrones, CSI, Walking Dead, Band of Brothers and Law and Order, plus many more.
International Hairstylist and brand ambassador, Charlie has over 15 years in the Industry and is a regular artist for Dancing On Ice and Strictly Come Dancing for the past 5 years. She has worked some very contemporary styling into our Hollywood Hair course this year, all drawn from her experience in the industry. The students love Charlie’s calm and easy going approach to helping them tackle some of the most challenging hairstyles. We love Charlie for how she gets the best out of the students, sharing everything from photography and hair wafting techniques to the best shots. Never a dull day when Charlie is teaching her show-stopping styles!
Jo completed her training here on the Complete Make-up Artist Course. In her early career she learnt from assisting the greatest including Val Garland, Miranda Joyce, Charlotte Tilbury, Pat McGrath and Lucia Pieroni before joining the prestigious CLM agency in 2012. She is known for her celebration of diversity, wide-ranging technical ability, incredible skin work and high-end aesthetic with an edge. Jo specialises in fashion, beauty and more recently celebrity make-up. As a tutor, Jo comes into the academy to deliver fashion masterclasses. Known and respected for her strong opinions on what constitutes a good make-up, combined with an uncoupled identity from her work and self, Jo is extremely passionate and inspiring.
Jo is a regular contributor for various magazines worldwide with editorial clients including; Dansk, Vogue, Wonderland, iD, CR Fashion Book, Dazed & Confused, L’Officiel, GQ, Vanity Fair, Elle Italia, Harpers Bazaar, Crash, Bon and Numero Homme.
Her client roster includes Erdem, Teatum Jones, Nicole Farhi, Lara Bohinc, Twenty8Twelve, Markus Lupfer, Joseph, Liberty, Julien MacDonald and Tom Davies. Celebrity clients include Vicky McClure, Kaya Scodelario-Davis, Lena Headey, Natalie Dormer in addition to musicians such as Jess Glynne, Jessie Ware, Lily Allen and Florence Welch.
Niamh is a winning top make-up designer of TV dramas and films such as Bronson, The Inceptor, Hard Sun and Filth. Niamh has taken Delamar students on her team, kickstarting the careers of many in the film and TV industry. Known for her direct and professional teaching style, Niamh has impeccably high standards, so it is a big compliment to our graduates when she repeatedly books them on her jobs. Casualty, prosthetics and special effects are Niamh’s areas of expertise, demonstrated through her work on gritty and often bloody dramas.
Industry insider with credentials as a top fashion, commercial and beauty make-up artist, Sarah regularly jet-sets around the world to work on huge campaigns such as Vivienne Westwood. As an industry authority on product, the students really love Sarah’s up-to-the-minute knowledge on new brands and key trends.
Our glamorous authority on beauty make-up, Nikki has worked on numerous dramas, comedies and children’s programs including Pride and Prejudice and Absolutely Fabulous. Nikki’s career spans from A list private clients to events such as the BAFTAs, The Proms and the Royal Variety Show. Nikki was personal make-up artist to Gloria Hunniford and Caron Keating for many years, Anne Robinson for 7 years and Dame Shirley Bassey for 10 years to present day, working with her on numerous tours and publicity events.
Katrin’s passion for creativity began at the London College of Fashion. After graduation with a BA in Fashion Image, she threw herself into the fashion industry and hasn’t looked back. With clients ranging from Hayley Atwell & Katherine Ryan to top politicians, Hunger Magazine to Elle.com; she shows a calm yet energetic approach to creative projects and with clients. She achieves great results from the students here, often using her most recent work in the industry as teaching inspiration. Very down to earth and practical in her approach, Katrin really inspires our students to do their best.
The “Grande Dame”… loved by the students for her warm and friendly approach, Wendy brings with her a wealth of experience from working at the Royal Opera House for the last 12 years as a freelance wig and make-up technician. Wendy has been Wig Mistress on ‘Oliver’, ‘Chicago’, ‘Oklahoma’ and the ‘Witches of Eastwick’., also working on ‘Carmen Jones’, ‘Crazy for You’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and ‘Les Miserables’. Wendy also works in TV and Film, on productions such as Downton Abbey, Suffragette, Ex Machina, Far from the Madding Crowd, Pan, Star Wars, and Beauty and the Beast. Wendy was a Principal Hairdresser for the London Olympics in 2012, working on both the opening and closing ceremonies.
Hair and make-up tutor Holly is super practical and down-to earth with the students. Since graduating from Delamar 8 years ago, Holly has been busy carving out a successful career working in TV drama and feature films. She has worked all over the world on productions including ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Fortitude’, ‘Clash of the Titans’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Guerilla’, ‘This Is England’ and ‘Stratton’.
Delamar Graduate in 1991 and specialist in casualty, character and period hair & make up for film and TV, Amanda is a much-loved teacher by her students. Amanda generously shares a wealth of wisdom from her time on supervising for many series of Holby City as well as 2 episodes of Silent Witness series 16. She has worked on the crowd team for A Game of Thrones. Her work in crowd hair and make-up teams also include: Star Wars 8, Beauty and the Beast, The Crown, Alice through the looking Glass, Poirot, Les Miserables, Dark Shadows and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Siân has over 25 years experience as a hair and make up artist, working in TV Drama and Film. Having spent several years at Art School she turned to Vidal Sassoon to become a fully qualified hairdresser before graduating with a BTEC HND in Hair and Makeup with Distinction.
After many years spent primarily in TV, designing shows from the cult This Life in the 90’s to Merlin in the 2010’s, she has spent most of the last 9 years working on feature films. As Key Hair, Makeup and Prosthetic Artist on films such as Jurassic World 2, Jason Bourne and Inferno, she has worked with Forest Whitaker, Felicity Jones, Alicia Vikander and Mark Ruffalo to name a few.
Other credits include Rogue One, Exodus, Now You See Me 2, The Wife and Lost in London. Sian is a confident and entertaining teacher, much loved by the students at Delamar.
Don’t let Pauline’s very youthful looks deceive you, with over 20 years experience in the industry, our students are very lucky to learn from such an in-demand beauty and fashion make-up artist. Often requested for her work on black skin, Pauline is personal make-up artist to Serena Williams, having worked with her for many appearances including the 2018 Royal Wedding and magazine covers from Sports Illustrated to Forbes. Pauline’s other clients include Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Jamelia and Jennifer Hudson. Students love Pauline’s fresh energy and up-to-the-minute make-up looks.
Jutta initially started her career in the theatre world of Vienna where she worked on shows such as Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, The Rocky Horror Show and Westside Story. That is also where she learned wig making, a skill she still teaches today. Since having moved to London in 1994, Jutta has worked in fashion for Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Costello and more plus commercials for Vodaphone, and BT.
She has predominantly worked in the British film and TV industry, and her credits include Mr Selfridge, Fifth Element, Saving Private Ryan, most of the Harry Potter Films, Pirates of the Caribbean, Snow White and the Huntsman, Star Wars, Thor, The Mummy and many more. Jutta also works as hair and make up designer for TV shows and feature films.
Since 2006 Emma has proudly worked for the prestigiuos facial hair company of Sarah Weatherburn & Co. Making facial for such blockbusters as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Chronicles, Sarah Weatherburn & Co continually work on countless productions of stage, screen and television. Emma also works in the world of theatre, having started at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and then going on to the West End to work on productions such as Les Miserable, Jersey Boys, Wicked and Mamma Mia.
Mira Parmar is a brilliantly energetic tutor at Delamar who has created many opportunities for our graduates over the years. Mira’s experience as a freelance celebrity makeup artist and hair stylist has resulted in an impressive client list that spans the beauty, fashion, advertising, celebrity, editorial, film and music industries. These clients include Joanna Lumley, Cara Delevigne, Suki Waterhouse, Aishwarya Rai, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Monsoon, Accessorize, Sony, Panasonic, Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s Bazaar, Prima, Marie Claire and more.
With over 16 years in the industry, Sarah Exley is a highly established entertainment, commercial and celebrity make-up artist. With a passion for beauty make-up, Sarah has risen through the ranks of personal celebrity bookings to becoming the make-up designer on X Factor. Sarah has a background in beauty, owning her own skin care salon before moving into make up and hair. Sarah began working in prestige style and fashion editorial, contributing to notable fashion shoots in Vogue, Dazed & Confused and Elle. She also designs entire looks for television shows and films. Sarah is a very well-rounded teacher at Delamar, with so much experience to draw upon from high-fashion to television. One of Sarah’s most regular clients is Dermot O’Leary, who presented the Royal Wedding TV coverage. Sarah used a team of Delamar graduates to assist her for this exciting job.
Jen comes to us with a wealth of experience on cool indie films and teaching prosthetics at University level. Her work includes Bohemien Rhapsody, Holby City and Jawbone. A lover of wigs, props hair and of course specialising in prosthetics, Jen sees the whole character and encourages students to be as creative as possible, within the remit of their technical understanding. Highly professional and positive, our students love Jen’s straight forward and practical approach to problem solving and helping them achieving their best work.
Ian started working in a salon aged just 13, he knew that hairdressing was his passion, so trained at college and has worked on top films like Mission Impossible and boutiquey high-end salons on Soho, Central London. Also training in make-up, Ian saw the importance of both skills working together to create whole look. Ian has worked on commercials for Audi, Fendi and Hoiuse of Fraser. Very skilled in the art of up-dos, barbering and contemporary hair styles, Ian has a really wide ranging skillset and experiences to draw upon when teaching. The students benefit from Ian’s positive and super helpful teaching style, he is enthusiastic, hands on and committed to being generous with his time and energy.
Michelle Garande is a Zimbabwean born and West London raised Hair educator who specialises in Afro and Multi-textured hair. Michelle has been part of the hair industry for over 7+ years.
Starting her career as a salon Junior in 2012 at Afrotherapy Salon in North London, she soon realised her passion and love for hairdressing and creative Avant Garde styling. Within 3 years of her career she had become a Senior Stylist, Salon Assistant Manager and Assistant Head of the Afrotherapy Creative Team.
Michelle’s creative side grew through taking part in hair competitions from 2013 where she has won 5 Awards for Avant Garde styling and 3 Awards for Braid Stylist of the Year, she has done and still does photographic work that has been featured in hair magazines such Black Beauty and Hair magazine and Black Hair magazine.
Regular tutor on our basic and advanced hair course, Jo has worked in the industry for many years as a hair and wig expert. Jo’s first job after college was Oklahoma at the Lyceum, later moving on to work on Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera, The Witches of Eastwick, My Fair Lady, various productions at The Royal Opera House, Mary Poppins and Wicked, to name but a few. Jo is currently the Wicked London/International Tour Supervisor and has helped many of our students and graduates to secure work placements in the Wigs department. Jo has also worked on feature films, including Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Mission Impossible 5, Pan, Star Wars, Darkest Hour, and The Nutcracker, and has worked as a daily artist on Game of Thrones, The Crown, and Taboo. Jo’s warm and encouraging manner help our students to master the tricky technical skills needed for dressing wigs and styling hair.
Specialist in facial hair for over 30 years, Sarah is the Industry name when it comes to facial hair in film and TV. Very few people in the industry are specialist in this niche area. From designing to knotting and application of the piece, this one week course at Delamar is shaped by Sarah’s expertise. Sarah has worked on the Harry Potter films, The Hobbit, Game Of Thrones, King Arthur, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, The Crown, The Revenant, Pan, War & Peace… we could really go on! One of the best and most experienced in the industry, Sarah is the go-to facial hair maker for top films, her reputation is international and we take great pride in Sarah and her team teaching at Delamar.
Angie has 20 years experience as a makeup artist in film and tv. She has designed a variety of films and Tv dramas including River, Dr Foster 2, Fungus the Bogeyman, The Firm and Horrid Henry. Having travelled and worked abroad on many productions including period, biblical dramas and contemporary. Angie is a calm and nurturing teacher and often takes students on to her team. As an excellent all-rounder, Angie covers a wide range of skills and loves casualty makeup, facial hair and wigs.
Lucy is an excellent make-up & hair designer who has racked up an impressive CV of experience working on many TV productions including Killing Eve (series 1 & 2) Outnumbered, the BBC adaptation of BBC JK Rowling’s best-selling crime thriller Strike, Episode – The SilkWorm, Song For Marion starring Gemma Arterton and Vanessa Redgrave, the original series of The Office, Friday night Dinner, Burton & Taylor starring Helena Boham Carter and Dominic West, Lawless and Snatch… to name but a few. Lucy has a very professional and thorough teaching style, keeping our students on their toes. Trained at the BBC, Lucy’s years of experience span through many comedies and character based dramas, providing invaluable tuition in creating camera-ready character work.
Lorraine’s methodical approach is vital for teaching haircutting, barbering and hairdressing classes. Her numerous credits as a Make-up Designer on Film and TV productions such as The Royals, Hooligan Factory, Doc Martin, Galavant, The Battle Of The Sexes, Honeycomb Lodge, Get Lucky, Magic Boys and Stonehearst ensure our students receive industry relevant tips and tricks. Lorraine’s team often includes several Delamar graduates, working on locations all over the world. Our students appreciate her non-nonsense approach when it comes to learning different hairstyles and cuts.
