The Delamar Academy Complete Makeup Course is a broad yet condensed training option for students who want to learn everything possible to launch their career in just 16 weeks.

Covering the most coveted genres of makeup and hair artistry, this highly technical yet creative course ensures students are provided with a developed and rich practical skill set to work in the industry. Throughout this course each student receives personal feedback from the tutors, to appraise, motivate and guide the learning process. All Complete Makeup Artist course students who are eligible to work in the UK receive aftercare and support to find work opportunities.

The building blocks of industry employability

The Complete Makeup Artist course provides hands-on training for all the hair and makeup skills required to put you on the set of a film, theatre production, television show or fashion shoot - plus many other industry workplaces.

By the end of the end of the Complete Makeup Artist course, students will:

  • Possess the practical skills to launch a career in the makeup artist industry

  • Know how to research a subject and use relevant reference material to fulfil a makeup brief

  • Own a professional kit and know how to use everything in it

A full-time course for a fulfilling career

  • Classes run 10:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, in the Academy

  • All equipment, materials and a professional kit worth over £1,500 is included in the course

  • Classes sizes are small - no more than 12 students per class to create a strong tutor to student ratio

  • Termly tutorials with a tutor and Academy Principal are held with each student to provide support, advice and learn about each individual student’s goals

  • We hold guest masterclasses and industry talks throughout the year featuring top industry experts and artists

  • Professional discounts of around 30% are offered to our students by brands such as Mac, Kryolan, NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Ilamasqua and more

  • Tuition is practical and hands-on, with a tutor demo in the morning, followed by practical sessions for the rest of the day, in which students learn how to handle specialist equipment, tools and materials

  • We place emphasis on individual and group creativity, and all subjects are underpinned by theory, research, and visual references

The course modules:

Students are doing makeup from day one, intensively taught a different discipline each week with. Professional techniques and etiquette are a must.

Beauty Makeup

Learn about the elements of professional beauty makeup from the perfect complexion work to dramatic enhancement of features.

Fashion Makeup

A more technical week with red lips, graphic liner, textures, shapes, crystals and runway inspired makeup looks.

Beginner Hair & Setting

Essential hair styling requires precise sectioning, styling with rollers, tongs, wands, texture and up-dos. Setting is an important skill for wig work.

Period Wigs

Block a wig, set in various authentic styles from the 1920s - 1950s, and learn how to dress-out. All materials and wig styling tools are included.

Period Makeup

Covering 1920s - 1980s, this week is a deep dive into modern history, recreating looks in an authentic way suitable for film & television.

Airbrush & Body Art

Learn how to use a professional airbrush machine. This week also includes body painting a shirt on + more.

Casualty Makeup

Injuries, disease, dirt, sweat, tears and the development of wounds/bruises. This course includes many new products and tools to master.

Character Makeup

Ageing, gender, general health and how to break down a character’s appearance into a makeup look from a script.

Prosthetics & Bald Caps

This 2 week course starts with a masterclass on bald cap application followed by the design, creation and application of silicone prosthetic pieces.

Facial Hair

Learn how to knot a piece of facial hair, how to dress and tong hair pieces - as well as all the skills needed for the application, maintenance, styling, and care of facial hair.

Contemporary Hair

Learn technically challenging styles such as red carpet, structured fashion looks, braids, textured pieces, extensions, plus other advanced techniques

Afro & Curly Textured Hair

An intensive grounding in Afro & textured hairdressing skills including curl patterns, styling, tools and products.

Barbering

An in-demand skillset for film artists - students learn how to use clippers and scissor-over-comb techniques to cut short hair into a variety of styles.

Industry talk & aftercare

Towards the end of the course, students receive individual meetings with the course leader to discuss their talents, course experience and career goals, so we can assist them on their journey.
