Week 5 of #lockdownlearning…
We’ve only just got started…
The last week served up more incredible learning for the Delamar community. We were especially proud to collaborate with Mary Greenwell on Thursday as she took us on a journey through make-up history, showing tear sheets of her work in the 1990’s. This class raised almost £1500 for the NHS! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket. Mary pointed out that one of her assistants is a graduate of ours, Andrew Denton, before recommending our courses. Sian Miller gave one of her famous industry talks on Tuesday, to almost 200 people, uncovering many pieces of wisdom about the film and TV industry. Pauline Briscoe’s masterclass on glam make-up was a huge hit; we loved hearing about her stories from Beyonce’s European tour, to repeatedly sacrificing her holidays to do big A list jobs with the likes of Jennifer Hudson. Holly Edwards showed us exactly what needs to be done to achieve an Ariana-worthy high pony tail. THEN, we hosted Oscar winner, Bill Corso on IG live, as he broadcast from his home in LA, sharing his advice and tales from working with Steven Speilberg. We also hosted the brilliant Mira Parmar yesterday and top Film Make-up designer Jana Carboni today. It has been an absolute whirlwind of digital learning and generous sharing of knowledge.
Period hair and wigs expert Wendy Topping, has been busy creating videos from home. Here was her Georgian Masterclass from last week. Watch this space for the next drop!
Many of our community will end up leaving lockdown with more skills and knowledge than when they started. We think this is a brilliant way to spend this current, crazy time we are all living in at the moment.
Next week’s line-up is immense! 3 classes are free – Siân, Vicky and Wendy’s (video in progress!). The other three are ticketed to cover our costs. We have made sure these are affordable and accessible for all. Delamar students and graduates will receive a 50% discount on the paid Masterclasses with an exclusive code. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for your code!
To answer some questions we have been asked a lot this week:
- I haven’t received my link! Help! Eventbrite email 2 hours before the class you have registered for and 2 minutes before the class. If you don’t receive this for some reason, login to your Eventbrite to see the class link. If all else fails, email email@example.com and she will email you the link directly.
- Zoom are asking me for a code! Help! Zoom should not ask anyone for a code. If this happens please shut down the link, refresh your browser and click it again.
- Ok I have my link but it’s not working! Help! Simply log out of your Zoom account and log back in. Shut down the link you have opened and click to open it again. This has fixed every technical problem so far.
- Can we record classes? To keep the magic and exclusivity of these live classes, we have made the decision not to record them. It is also important to add that most of our tutors do not wish to be recorded.
- Will Delamar be issuing certificates for the online classes? Since we are in the beginning stages of creating online learning, certificates are not something we will be doing just yet. This is due to certification requiring serious practical participation from our students. This will be under review and with enough interest from you guys, we might explore the option of structured online courses.
Please see the schedule for next week below and let us know if you have any ideas for future masterclasses you would love to see – we will try to make it happen! Either contact us via Instagram or email Emma on firstname.lastname@example.org
