It has not been a more exciting time for Delamar Academy Graduate work. The past few months have been a whirlwind of film productions, Netflix dramas and lots of big shoots in the advertising and music world. We have never been asked for so many trainees and experienced artists alike.
Good Delamar graduates are flying through the industry, many of them unavailable for months at a time. “Sorry, I’m on a job” is the most frequent response to many of the opportunities we have been trying to fill!
So without further preamble, here is what the #DelamarFamily have been doing from summer to the end of October…
Film & TV:
Rocketman is a big production about the life of Elton John. You can see the teaser trailer here:
Tutor Laura Solari was leading hair and make-up for the crowd department with fellow Delamar tutor, Sian Miller. They had an absolute blast working together. Wendy Topping did daily work, and we had graduates Bethany Fletcher and Inez Clarke working as trainees.
Graduate Stacey Holman has been working on Peaky Blinders and doing daily’s for the principal cast on The Crown, which is being designed by Delamar graduate Cate Hall. The Crown is the biggest budget Netflix drama series ever made, and depicts the life of our royal family. Of all the exciting dramas to work on, this is one of the finest dramas in production at the moment. We have had many Delamar graduates work on The Crown, and look forward to seeing the new series!
Sorcha Morgan is a graduate who graduated this summer on the Complete Make-up artist course, and she got straight to work on HBO series called Watchmen, ITV series Endeavour, National Lottery for a whole month and days on “Take Me Out”.
Recent graduate Jodie Llewellyn has made some incredible progress after we gave her two days on a production called Sulphur and White, she immediately got asked back for more days then got recommended to work on a new film that we cannot name, as her main team trainee. Well done Jodie! This is proof that just a couple of days can have a domino effect on your career, leading to much more work.
Cliodhna Scully has been working on Britannia and two films in production that we cannot yet mention, after Leda recommended her to supervisor Richard Muller.
Many of our graduates have been working on the Amazon Prime series, Jack Ryan: Mollie Lister, Laura Randall, Natasha Vincent and Naomi Spurr all worked together as trainees and juniors for a 3-week stint.
Italian graduate Claudia Mancini has been working as a trainee on a big feature film starring Keira Knightly. This opportunity came through Leda, who recommended her for the role.
2017 graduate Hollie Williams has been working on a film we cannot name for a long stint this year before going onto Rocketman and days on Downton Abbey.
Fashion & Commercial
It is quite safe to say that Andrew Denton has had the most thrilling past few months assisting top fashion artist Andrew Gallimore. This list is quite something: Publications in Harpers Bazar, Elle Magazine, Hunger, French Numero, Dazed, Porter, Cheryl Cole’s new music video “Love Made Me Do It”, campaigns for Ugg, Sloggi, River Island and Primark, a TV ad for Ministry of Sound. At London Fashion Week Andrew worked on shows for Nicholas Kirkwood, Louise Gray, Rejinya Pyo and Rimmel.
We are very proud to have graduate Shiv Ashman as Lisa Eldridge’s main assistant, working on A list stars, incredible editorials and big campaigns. This is a huge opportunity for Shiv, and we are thrilled to have trained Lisa Eldridge’s right hand woman!
Anja Bont has been working on lots of eCommerce shoots for Wolf & Badger and top hair stylist Anna Cofone, who is represented by the Wall Group.
Recent graduates Cali Thomas, Nastassia Caripi, Inez Clarke and Claudia Mancini worked on a Coco & Eve commercial shoot for a breast cancer awareness video. This was a really fun day working with some beautiful models showing people how to check their boobs in the time it takes a hair masque to work its magic.
2017 1 year graduate Johanna Paras has been working with CLM hair stylist Marc Francome who credited Johanna in a fashion spread for Luxx magazine
Top fashion artist and long time graduate Jo Frost has been working with Jess Glynne and now Ellie Goulding – Jo did the make-up on Ellie for her new music video.
Sarah Jagger has been working on a campaign for tanning brand Tan Luxe with assistants Aimee Joyce and Katie Wallis. These girls impressed Sarah so much that she has used to assist her them since.
The X Factor is designed by Delamar tutor Sarah Exley, who has taken several Delamar graduates onto her team: Bella Constanzo, Sophie Shoob and Andrew Denton – a recent addition to the live shows. This is such a fantastic opportunity for our graduates who go on to make many contacts in the music industry from shows like X factor.
2017 1 year graduate Krystal Buckley has continued to love her time on Kinky Boots which is currently being made into a film.
Ella Burton finished her contract with Wicked and moved onto swing work for Matilda, Kinky Boots, Wicked, Dirty Dancing and Motown. This is an amazing place to be where you can swing between different productions after developing a top reputation as Ella has done.
Another 2017 1 year graduate, Trusha Desai has finished the season at Holland Park with fellow grads Taleri Banks and Lisa Smyth. She has now moved onto working at the Opera House. We are so happy for Trusha, she deserves every success.
Other graduates from our 1 year course: Olivia Watts has been working on wigs at Book of Mormon and Mia Laroque-Macbeth who is contracted on Harry Potter The Cursed Child.
Heather Ross has been working on the international tour of The Lion King, as head of department. This is one of the most critically acclaimed musicals, and an opportunity many would be honoured to have. Heather’s work involves a wide skillset of wigs, face painting and make-up.
Our current students have had the opportunity of doing work experience in Questors Theatre Christmas Panto. They have had plenty of training this term but still this is a challenge that puts all their skills to the test. We can’t wait to see how they all do! This is the opportunity that many of our top theatre graduates started with.
Hannah Dearnley has started as wig and make-up assistant on Motown The Musical, running right through to January 2020.
So there we have it! We are so proud of our graduates, the end of the summer and beginning of the autumn have brought some amazing opportunities to our #DelamarFamily. You can read about more Delamar Academy graduate work here.
