Courses at Delamar are quite different from a classic academic course, as our teaching focus is completely practical requiring extensive use of materials, state of the art facilities and top industry professionals. “Funding” is one of the most frequently Googled queries associated with “Delamar Academy”. We understand that our students come to us with different financial circumstances, so we have put together a list of varied funding options:
Screen Skills Bursaries
What is it? Each year, government money is provided to Screen Skills who enable people to train in the creative industries through bursaries. 100% funded courses are made available for creatives who want to get ahead in the Media, TV and Film industries. We currently have 7 of our short courses are eligible for Government funded Screen Skills Bursaries. This means that government money can help make-up & hair professionals improve their skills and consequently improve their employability. This is a fantastic scheme that we are really proud to be a part of.
Here are the courses eligible for Screen Skills Bursaries:
What is it? Up to £12,000 funding towards our most extensive course, the industry respected 1 Year Cert HE Professional Make-up Design course.
Applications for this scheme closed in June 2020, but please check back to see more info when BAFTA release the 2020-2021 scheme information. More information about this scheme is detailed here.
New – Delamar Academy Interest Free Payment Plan
It is now possible to spread the cost of your course over a longer period of time. With our new payment plan, we require a non-refundable deposit of 25% to secure your place on the course, as is standard procedure for all students. After that, an initial payment of 25% is due before the course starts. The remaining 50% of course fees will be divided into stage payments at set dates throughout the course. Please contact us for further details.
We are introducing this new payment plan due to popular demand from prospective students and are passionate about being as flexible as possible with the fee payments for the benefit of all students. However, any students who fail to make payments on the agreed dates or misuse the payment plan in any way, will be removed from the course.
Loans and Credit Cards
We are not able to give any financial advice but encourage people to research their options with borrowing thoroughly. Delamar Academy accepts credit card payments. For interest free balances, this can be a helpful option. Resources like Money Saving Expert www.MoneySavingExpert.co.uk provide excellent information on the best offers. In the absence of the Professional Career Development Loan which stopped last year, there are plenty of other ways to receive help towards funding your course.
Every year and for as long as we have been open, many students fund their course by working hard and saving up. If you are fortunate to receive help from family or your partner, this is great. We take payments from overseas bank accounts and several different accounts can pay for the same student’s course.
The Princes Trust provides funding up to £500, which can really help funding a short course here at Delamar Academy.
Delamar Academy Funding – International Options
Iceland, Gibraltar and Italy
We have known students receive help towards their courses from various funds and schemes set up in their respective countries. We encourage you to research this independently.
Delamar Academy Funding – What your course fee covers
Firstly, the excellent training from 10am – 4pm each day, in the light and airy classrooms of the Academy, based at the prestigious Ealing Studios. All the materials, work stations, student’s kits and tutor time is covered. We also factor in the cost of professional photo shoots to our 7 Week Summer Course, Advanced Complete Make-up Artist and Cert HE Professional Makeup Design course. For graduates of all Delamar Academy Courses, our free aftercare is often considered as “priceless” – and not factored into the fees, but an added benefit of training here. We place graduates on the industry’s top films and TV productions, often within weeks of graduation – Star Wars being a top example, Downton Abbey and Strictly Come Dancing are all productions we have supplied new fledgling graduates onto, changing their lives and kick-starting their make-up careers. Obviously, the courses that prepare students best for these placements are the Complete Make-up Artist, Advanced Complete Make-up Artist and 1 Year Cert HE Professional Make-up Design course. Funding your course at Delamar Academy is an investment in career opportunity, mentoring and of course, the first class training. The Delamar Academy Agency is open to all graduates, for free and we have frequently provided opportunities for a decade after the graduate’s course has finished.
We also host some of the most coveted Masterclasses in the industry, which are free for all our students and graduates who wish to attend. Brands like NARS, Kevyn Aucoin, By Terry, Bobbi Brown and Delilah have all come into the Academy to provide generous complimentary gifts and excellent masterclasses. In addition to luxury brands, we have also hosted an incredible array of artists and top industry professionals like Caroline Hirons, Mary Greenwell, Kristyan Mallett, Hannah Martin, Tina Earnshaw, Sangeet Prabhaker and many more. You can read about our Masterclasses here.
