Some exciting things are in the pipeline here at Delamar Academy…
We pride ourselves on our relationships with the top brands in the make-up industry. Every student training with us from a 16 week to 1-year course gets access to the professional discounts at brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, NARS and Bobbi Brown. The stakes have now been raised… as we have formally begun a partnership with the most luxurious beauty brand of all, Tom Ford.
The Tom Ford Covent Garden Store invited us to a special evening, showcasing the exquisite product collection. We were greeted with glasses of champagne, in a store that could be mistaken for the interior of a lavish private jet. The built-in beauty tech, mirrors and sleek finish in this store were concurrent with the fact that Estee Lauder has never spent so much money on a single brand store. We were in luxury beauty heaven.
Store manager, Rachel, warmly greeted us and took us downstairs to an even more plush setting. Soft grey chairs decked with little black bags of Tom Ford goodies awaited us. Francesco led the presentation explaining the key brand products, before passing them around. We needed all of it. We certainly bought a lot! Francesco was our star of the evening, with his Italian passion, charm and expert brand knowledge. He told us the story about Tom Ford’s career from studying architecture at Parsons, New York, to becoming obsessed with the outfits on the characters inside his model building designs. From there Tom Ford became Creative Director at Gucci, then YSL, before founding his own fashion brand, epitomising high-end sophistication and glamour.
Some key products we snapped up with a generous 35% discount were the Illuminating Primer, Traceless Skin Foundation Stick, Bronzing Powder, fragrances-a-plenty and even the odd candle. Whowouldn’t want a Tom Ford candle?
We were very impressed with how well the team had understood their audience. As an audience of make-up artists, many working at the top of the industry, we did not need a lesson on any specific skills or techniques, but we wanted the educational presentation on product, brand story and the key items for a make-up artists’ kit.
It is so important as a make-up artist, to have the best products in your kit. When it comes to celebrities, brides and high-end personal make-up jobs, “best” does mean the most luxurious. Make-up artists cannot charge decent rates without having the top products. This event was a treat for tutors and top graduates to help build their kits. We each received a 35% yearly discount membership, directly with the store. How kind! We look forward to providing this to more graduates of Delamar Academy.
We have some very exciting plans in the pipeline with Tom Ford Beauty to work with Delamar on upcoming master classes and events.
A huge thanks to Rachel and her team, for hosting a fabulous evening. We left the store on a giddy retail therapy high, with lighter purses and big smiles.
