The beginning of the year is always a quieter time in the industry with summer being the peak busy period for productions. However, generally speaking there has not been a more exciting time for Delamar Academy’s Graduates. The past few months have seen Netflix dramas taking over Ealing and Leavesen Studios. There have also been many big shoots in the advertising and music world.
Read on to discover what the #DelamarFamily have been up to since January 2019…
Film & TV
Sorcha Morgan graduated from the Advanced Complete Make-up Artist Course last year. She is now a Main Team Trainee for a big Netflix production, which we sadly cannot name. Well done Sorcha!
Rebecca Calver graduated from the 1 Year course last year. She has been the trainee on a TV series with Delamar tutor Jutta Russell filming in Bristol.
Jodie Lllewllyn, another graduate from the 1 Year course in 2018 has been working on Netflix & BBC series called King Gary with Delamar tutor
Inez Clark, a 2018 1-year graduate has been working on Maleficent 2 re-shoots and Elton John biopic feature film Rocketman earlier this year. She has also been working on Four Weddings & A Funeral with fellow graduate Aimee Joyce, which we are really excited to see and Harlots with top designer, Julie Kendrick.
Cate Hall is a long time Delamar graduate who has designed the recent series of The Crown, a huge career achievement! This is the most high-budget TV series ever produced, so it was great to hear that Delamar tutor Jo Nielsen worked on Main Team and many graduates were doing dailies in the crowd room. #DelamarFamily reigning supreme!
Gabor Krekes graduated 4 years ago from the 1 year Cert He Professional Make-up Design course. He is now key hair and make-up artist for a film adaptation of Matt Haig’s children’s book called “A Boy Called Christmas”. This is filming in Slovakia, Prague and London.
Chloe Jackson is a 1 Year graduate from last year; she has worked on Rocketman along with many other Delamar Graduates and tutors. We can smell awards with this film. Everyone who worked on it has praised the film so it will be one to watch.
Wes Anderson film, The French Dispatch has been in production for a while now with Delamar graduate Manon Orance working with Delamar tutors Laura Solari and Sian Miller. This is one of the many examples of our tutors taking graduates onto films with them.
Verity Ure-Jones is a graduate of the Advanced Complete Make-up Artist course in 2018. She has been working on The Capture, a TV production with Delamar Tutor Angie Mudge and also on Liar 2.
Lisa Panteloni has been working on The Hitman Wife’s Bodyguard as a crowd trainee and 2nd Unit Trainee. Lisa has also been working on an English/Italian production called “A cup of coffee with Marilyn” which has been published by Vogue Italia.
Caroline Walker has been working with Jo Jenkins on a TV production called “Year Of The Rabbit” which is a comedy show starring Matt Berry. This job has included Special FX work, dirt and wigs all in one show. Following this stint, Caroline has worked on a show called Breeders with Martin Freeman. She has also been working on Saturday Morning Kitchen and a few days on the Sara Cox show.
Lucy Oswald, Lottie Betts and Hollie Williams have all been working together in Italy on Kingsman 3: The Great Game. These three ladies all completed the 1 Year course and have enjoyed working on many big feature films since. This Kingsman is directed by Matthew Vaughn, starring Gemma Arteton and Ralph Fiennes.
Olivia Watts, a 2018 1 Year Graduate has been a swing on hit West End Musical, the Book Of Mormon.
With the end of Kinky Boots in the West End, many of our graduates were sad to see this show reach its end. Luckily 2017 1 Year graduate Krystal Buckley has since been working as a swing on critically acclaimed musical, Tina – all about Tina Turner’s rise to stardom.
2017 Complete Make-up Artist gradate Arina Laura has just had her contract renewed on West End Musical, School of Rock. Arina is learning so much already
Rebecca Kempton is the Department Head for wigs and make-up on Kinky Boots the UK Tour. In January she hired another Delamar Graduate to complete her team of #DelamarFamily: Rebecca (herself), Charlotte Jameison and now Megan Royale. Go team!
Manon Orance has also had her hand in theatre, working as a swing on Phantom Of The Opera. What a classic musical to be a part of!
Heather Ross graduated several years ago now, specialising in Advanced Hair. She was very talented on the course so her success in the industry is of no surprise to us! She has been working as Head Of Department on The Lion King World Tour, one of the most prestigious shows in the world.
Fashion & Commercial
2018 1 Year graduate Callista Lorian Thomas has been working on some amazing shoots for the fashion and advertising world with clients including Coco & Eve, Noctis Magazine and Image First. We were really proud to see Callista work on top supermodel of the moment, Aweng for a secret project.
Advanced Complete Make-up Artist Course graduate Andrew Denton trained here over 4 years ago now. He is doing very well in the fashion industry and has a huge number of impressible jobs this year so far. Andrew is the first assistant to top fashion artist Andrew Gallimore (they are affectionately known as “The Andrews”). His work assisting Andrew this year includes shoots for Elle Magazine, Hunger, Harper’s Bazaar and Gwendoline Christie, a commercial campaign shoot for Rimmel, Nicholas Kirkwood and a music video for the band Unkle directed by Warren Du Pree and Nick Thornton Jones.
The Brit Awards were a big opportunity for so many of our graduates, including seasoned Fashion Artist, Jo Frost who is Jess Glynne’s personal artist. She designed the arresting and thought-provoking make-up performance where Jess and her dancers all removed their make-up live on TV. Jess did this whilst singing live, in a beautifully choreographed and authentic performance where she started the song in glam make-up and finished looking very bare faced. Other graduates to work on the Brit awards were: Andrew Denton, Sophie Shoob, Anja Bont, Fiona Neal, Grace Hatcher, Johanna Paras, Emily Wilcox and Fai Archer.
After working on the Brit Awards, Andrew flew straight to Milan for his first Milan Fashion week show working backstage at Emilio Pucci, keyed by Niamh Quinn at LGA Management.
Katie Jude completed the 1 Year Course in 2017 and is now working in the fashion industry. Her stand-out work this year was for a London Fashion show which ended up being shown at Piccadilly Circus.
Fiona Neal and Emma Steventon assisted Caroline Barnes and Hannah Marin on a L’Oreal Campaign featuring Dame Helen Mirren and Iskra Lawrence. This was in partnership with the Princes Trust and all about positive beauty affirmations… “Because You’re Worth It”.
Bella Constanzo who graduated with a bespoke course several years ago, has been working on the X Factor Tour, going to 25 different locations and working with the final contestants of the X Factor. This job was made possible through Delamar Tutor, Sarah Exley who is Designer for the X Factor and cruelty free enthusiast.
