Period Wigs

What you will learn

This is a practical course and you will have the experience of working on real hair wigs with lace fronts, as used in Theatre, Film, and TV.

The one week course takes you through blocking, setting, dressing, cleaning, and washing wigs. In addition, you will learn to research period styles and how to create ringlets, spirals, pincurls, finger waves, and victory rolls.

By the end of the course, you will understand and be able to apply the correct styling for a particular period setting.

The course fee includes use of the combs, brushes, and grips included in our complete kit.

Period Wigs

Our Period Wigs make-up course teaches you the basic wig and period styling skills you’ll need for working in Theatre, Film, and TV.

Before applying for this course, we ask that you have completed the Delamar Basic Hair course or its equivalent.

Where you will learn it

The light and airy classrooms of Delamar Academy are located within the world-famous Ealing Studios in West London. (You can learn more about Ealing Studios itself on our Get in touch page or on the Ealing Studios site itself.)

In our spacious classrooms, you will have your own personal workstation – including professional lighting and equipment. Ealing Studios is home to a number of other companies that form a real media community, with visual effects, production, editing, outside broadcast, and record companies all represented. There is also the Met Film School, which offers a first step in studio work experience for our own students when they work on graduate films.

Your next steps

In addition to the course prerequisite, there are only two requirements for entry to this course:

  • You must be at least 18 years old;

Personal Recommendation

“Alongside the learning, Delamar is so encouraging and helpful when it comes to finding you work through their own agency, during your time at Delamar and afterwards. The staff at the Academy go above and beyond the job and I cannot praise them enough.”
